SAN DIEGO - Just how does Santa really know who's being naughty or nice? Carol Aebersold, co-author of The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition® will reveal the magic behind this timeless question at Geppetto's - Fashion Valley from 10 a.m. - noon, and Geppetto's - Flower Hill Promenade from 2 - 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2009.

According to the book, Santa sends a scout elf to every home during the holiday season. The elf, once it is named and adopted into its new family, uses its Christmas magic to make a nightly trip to the North Pole in order to report all it has seen and heard throughout the day. Just before the children awake, the elf races back to its adoptive home and lands in a new "observation" point.

The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition® is a beautifully illustrated children's book that includes: a North Pole scout elf; a commemorative certificate; and comes packaged in a keepsake box for perfect storage. More than a story, the Elf on the Shelf is a magical hide-and-seek tradition families will enjoy year after year during the holiday season.

Children of all ages will also enjoy games, asking elf questions, and registering their elf on the award-winning interactive website, elfontheshelf.com. Registered elves receive special responses from Santa and an official Elf Adoption Certificate.
